Report suggests Spurs fans shouldn’t get too excited about Lo Celso yet

Recent reports in the press indicate that Tottenham are close to completing a £45million for Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso (The Sun).

It is claimed that the Argentine is now free to leave Betis for Spurs after the La Liga club secured the signing of Nabil Fekir from Lyon (Marca).

Betis announced their squad for their pre-season tour of Mexico on Tuesday and Lo Celso wasn’t included as a part of the squad. This prompted more excitement from some Spurs fans who saw it as an indication that the 23-year-old is on his way to Tottenham.

However, Football.London have now suggested that the reason that the playmaker has been left out of the Betis squad is that he is still on holiday.

It is said that Lo Celso, who represented Argentina at this summer’s Copa America tournament in Brazil, would be given three weeks off to recover fully from his exertions.

Further, the report goes on to claim that Tottenham and Betis have not yet agreed on a fee for the Argentine international and that the two clubs are still locked in negotiations.

Spurs Web Opinion

Deals like this often take time to materialise. However, we at Spurs Web think it is extremely unlikely that Betis would have spent money to get Fekir in if they didn’t have an agreement in place for Lo Celso to leave the club. We fully expect Lo Celso to arrive at Tottenham before the transfer window shuts.
