Report suggests that on-loan Spurs man may not be right fit for the club

Tutto Napoli have suggested that despite being talented, Tanguy Ndombele has not proven to be the ideal fit for Napoli so far (20/10/22 – as translated by Sport Witness)

Ndombele initially struggled to get game time following his loan move to Naples in the summer but over recent weeks, the Frenchman has started to get a few starts under his belt, due to the Serie A club’s injury owes.

Calciomercato even reported a few days ago that Ndombele is winning Luciano Spalletti over with his recent displays and that the Italian club will seriously consider activating the £25m option to buy the midfielder permanently if he keeps improving.

However, journalist Mimmo Malfitano suggested this week that the on-loan Tottenham man is still short of fitness and claimed that he has not won over all of the Napoli fans yet (Area Napoli).

Tutto Napoli have now painted a mixed picture of Ndombele’s first few months at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. They state that while the 25-year-old’s ‘qualities are evident’, he has only been able to showcase them ‘partially’.

They explain that the Frenchman gives the impression of being an ‘excellent player’ but his characteristics do not fit into ‘Spalletti’s idea of football’.

The report describes Ndombele as a ‘luxury’ player and declares that the midfielder needs to improve his understanding with his teammates and his physicality.

Spurs Web Opinion

Ndombele has only made three league starts for Napoli so far this season. So, to expect the midfielder to immediately click with his teammates is perhaps unfair. We will perhaps only be able to judge him fairly based on his performances over the second half of the season.
