Report suggests Tottenham scouted 23-year-old centre-back on Friday

According to the print edition of A Bola, Tottenham sent scouts to watch Porto’s clash with Braga on Friday, with defender David Carmo said to be the likely focus of attention for the North London club.

Porto emerged 4-1 winners on Friday, with A Bola claiming that Tottenham were one of several clubs to send representatives to the Estadio do Dragao for the clash.

Although the Portuguese publication does not specify who Spurs were watching, Sport Witness postulate that Carmo was likely the man that the Lilywhites were running the rule over.

Tottenham were linked with a move for the 23-year-old over the summer, with The Sunday Mirror (01/05, p73) reporting back in May that Antonio Conte’s men were battling Liverpool the former Portugal Under-20 international.

Interestingly, Carmo made the switch from Braga to Porto just this summer and the centre-back has had a promising start to the season with Sergio Conceicao’s side.

Spurs Web Opinion

It seems like a bit of guesswork from Sport Witness to suggest that Carmo was the man Tottenham were scouting. Given that the defender only made a big move to Porto this summer, it appears quite unlikely that the Portuguese giants would be willing to let him leave in January.
