Report: Some at Spurs are concerned with fitness of summer signing

Pierluigi Gollini’s fitness has raised concerns among some within the ranks at Tottenham Hotspur, according to The Athletic.

The goalkeeper moved to North London from Atalanta during the summer transfer window on an initial season-long loan deal which includes the option to make the deal permanent for €15 million (£12.9 million) at the end of the campaign.

Alternatively, Gollini will become a permanent member of Antonio Conte’s squad if he racks up 20 appearances in all competitions this season, having already had eight outings so far.

The 26-year-old was expected to rival Hugo Lloris for the number one position at the club, but has failed to oust the World Cup winner from between the sticks when it comes to playing week in, week out.

The report claims that the Italian international has it all to do between now and the end of the season if he wants to prove that he deserves to stay with the Premier League outfit.

The bigger priority has to be Hugo Lloris’ contract situation, with the Frenchman set to become a free agent at the end of the season.   He has continued to show that despite the fact he turns 35 on Boxing Day, he still has a number of years left at the top and the club should be doing everything in the power to hand him at least a two-year deal.
