Report: Summer Spurs signing is on the radar of two clubs

According to a report by The Sun (4/1/20); page 67 – newspaper edition), Millwall and Preston North End have both entered the race to sign Spurs youngster Jack Clarke on loan for the second half of the season.

The teenager, who arrived from Leeds in the summer, was subsequently loaned back to Marcelo Bielsa’s side but hardly had any game time to speak of in the first half of the season.

Clarke has since returned to Spurs with Jose Mourinho confirming the club’s intention to now loan him out to a team where he will play regular first-team football (Football.London).

It is now suggested that the Championship pair of Millwall and Preston are both keen on adding the 19-year-old to their squad in order to boost their promotion hopes.

The Daily Mail reported last month that Fulham and Brentford, who both currently occupy the playoff positions, were also keen on taking Clarke on board for the remainder of the season.

It is certainly a positive sign that sides at the top end of the Championship table want him. However, Tottenham have to be careful and loan him out to a team where he is guaranteed to start. The last thing Clarke needs is another experience like he’s had at Leeds for the past six months.
