Report: Summer target is likely to snub Spurs in favour of a Serie A transfer

According to Football Transfers, Albert Gudmundsson is expected to snub approaches from Tottenham and other Premier League clubs in favour of remaining in Serie A this summer.

Gudmundsson has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs over recent weeks, with various Italian outlets even naming Tottenham as the favourites to land the player ahead of the likes of Inter Milan and Juventus (Inter Live).

A couple of weeks ago, the versatile forward handed the Lilywhites a boost by admitting to The Telegraph that he harbours dreams of playing in the Premier League.

Albert Gudmundsson to stay in Italy despite Spurs links

However, Football Transfers have now reported that the 26-year-old would prefer to remain in Italy as he’s accustomed to the lifestyle in the country.

The report says that while several Premier League clubs have enquired about Gundmundsson’s availability, a switch to another Italian club is the most likely outcome for the player this summer.

The publication adds that Juve, AC Milan, Inter and Napoli are all circling over the Iceland international, who is expected to cost around €35m (£30m) this summer.

While Gundmundsson’s preference might be to remain in Serie A, one would think that Tottenham would be able to convince him regarding a switch to North London. However, it remains to be seen if Postecoglou can offer the forward guarantees of game time at the club.
