Report: Super-agent Jorge Mendes wants Real Madrid ace to join Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as a potential destination for Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio, according to CalcioMercato.

The report claims that super-agent Jorge Mendes is pushing for the 26-year-old to join Tottenham.

Asensio’s current deal is set to expire in the summer of next year and looks set to leave the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the current campaign.

Asensio, who has scored 10 goals in all competitions for Real Madrid this season has failed to shake off his bit-part role at the club following the return of Carlo Ancelotti last summer (transfermarkt).

CalcioMercato had claimed last month that Spurs’ north London rivals Arsenal were keen on the Spaniard, however, Mendes, who is managing the player’s potential exit appears to prefer a switch to Antonio Conte’s side.

Asensio would be a good addition to the Spurs ranks but is likely to have a number of admirers from across the continent if he does decide to leave the La Liga giants.

Spurs are in desperate need of a creative outlet within their ranks, however, a shrewder move could be to try and lure Christian Eriksen back to the club on a free transfer when his deal at Brentford expires in the summer.
