Report: Super agent to meet with Juventus to discuss future of Spurs target

According to Calciomercato, Mino Raiola will now meet with Juventus to clarify the future of Tottenham target Matthijs De Ligt.

De Ligt, 22, who joined the Bianconeri in 2019, has not yet extended his current deal, and the club are said to be keen to bed down fresh terms for their star defender.

The report from Calciomercato claims the centre-back’s agent will meet with Juventus chiefs in the coming days to discuss his future, alongside teammate Federico Bernardeschi.

It adds that Juventus are eager to remove the release clause worth a reported £126 million in De Ligt’s contract, which will become active from July next year.

Raiola’s planned meeting will likely come as a dent for Tottenham’s rumoured pursuit of De Ligt, who has previously been touted as an option on Antonio Conte’s shortlist of potential acquisitions.

Reports claimed that Spurs were looking to make a £59 million bid for the former Ajax captain, but those plans could now be scuppered as a result.

De Ligt could be such an excellent option for Spurs under Conte, but it has always seemed like a tough deal to get moving.

Now with his agent looking to clarify his future and Juventus keen to secure him at the club long-term, a move doesn’t seem too likely at present.
