Report: Super-agent’s influence at Spurs could increase if manager is hired

According to a report from Football.London, super-agent Jorge Mendes’ influence at Spurs could increase if Nuno Espirito Santo takes over as the club’s next head coach.

Nuno, who left Wolves at the end of last season after a largely successful four-year stint in charge of the Midlands club, is now reportedly the clear front-runner to take charge at Spurs.

While the 47-year-old does not appear to be a popular choice among Spurs fans, barring a huge turn of events, Football London do believe that he will likely be the man to replace Jose Mourinho.

Football.London have now explained that Fabio Paratici has been a long-time admirer of Nuno, previously having wanted to take the Portuguese coach to Juventus.

The report adds that Paratici has a strong relationship with Mendes and it was no coincidence that the Italian went for Gattuso and Espirito Santo, two coaches who are clients of the super-agent.

The former Wolves boss is said to have a closer bond than most with Mendes, having been his very first client back in 1996 when he was a goalkeeper.

It is revealed that Mendes already had some input at Tottenham over recent years with the club’s signings of Matt Doherty, Carlos Vinicius and Gedson Fernandes. That could potentially increase further if Nuno occupies the Spurs hot seat.
