Report talks up possibility of club signing Tottenham player permanently

Contrary to other reports that have emanated from Italy over recent weeks, CalcioNapoli24 have now stated that Napoli might be willing to sign Tanguy Ndombele permanently in the summer if the midfielder’s price is right.

Ndombele has struggled to establish himself in Napoli’s starting eleven this season.

The Frenchman’s task has not been made easy by the fact that Luciano Spalletti’s men have outperformed all expectations this season, currently sitting 18 points clear at the top of the Serie A table.

Although the Partenopei have the option of signing the 26-year-old permanently for £30m at the end of the season, multiple publications (Area Napoli and Forza Azzurri) have revealed over the last few weeks the club are unlikely to activate the option.

However, CalcioNapoli24 have now suggested that Spalletti’s men ‘hope’ they can buy Ndomble for a reasonable price in the summer so the player can develop into his best version next season.

The publication points out that the Spurs would be keen to offload the player and ‘cannot ask for the moon’, given his struggles.

However, it is asserted that Ndombele needs to showcase over the next few months to convince Napoli that he is someone who is worth investing in.

Tottenham’s priority would be to get Ndombele’s salary off their wage bill and so the North London club would likely be willing to lower the £30m price.

Even if Napoli decide against signing the Frenchman, one would hope that he has shown enough this season for other Serie A clubs to potentially approach Spurs for a deal.
