Report: Tanguy Ndombele could be used in a swap deal to land 23-year-old

Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race for Barcelona midfielder Arthur Melo this summer, according to reports from Spain.

Initially seen as the heir to Xavi’s throne in the Barcelona midfield, the 23-year-old’s performances have dipped this season and has also struggled with injuries (transfermarkt).

Mundo Deportivo claim that Tottenham and Inter Milan are going head to head for Authur’s signature this summer.

The report reveals that Spurs have ‘moved resolutely’ to try and sign the Spanish international.

It is suggested that the Lilywhites are prepared to include Tanguy Ndombele in a deal to bring the Barca star to North London this summer.

Although the report claims that the Catalan giants wish to keep hold of Arthur it is suggested that they are open to letting him go if they can raise transfer funds.

Arthur is contracted to Barcelona until 2024 but a move to Spurs is said to be a possibility with the Champions League finalists reportedly willing offer him a pay rise.

Spurs Web Opinion

This would be an unbelievable coup if we manage to somehow pull this off. I believe Arthur is the most talented young midfielder in Barca’s ranks. As much as I like Tanguy Ndombele and want him to succeed at Spurs, I would personally drive the Frenchman to Catalonia if we can get Arthur.
