Report: Teenager linked with Spurs named among world’s best young talents

We recently covered the fact that Tottenham striker Troy Parrott was named in Goal’s NxGn 2020 list of the top hundred players in world football born after January 1, 2001.

The Irish striker was rated as the 40th best young talent in world football, which shows the reputation the teenager has despite not featuring much for the Spurs first-team.

One player who is ranked even higher than Parrott at 38th place on the list is Marseille winger Isaac Lihadji, who is said to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Representatives from Tottenham reportedly made contact with the pacey 17-year-old ahead of the January transfer window (Foot Mercato) but a move didn’t materialise for the teenager.

Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are also said to be keen on signing the youngster (the Sun) whose contract with Marseille expires at the end of the season (Le10 Sport).

Goal’s NxGn 2020 report claimed that Lihadji is on his way out of the Ligue 1 side in the summer.

The outlet said this of the young winger: “Had it not been for a fractured shin suffered during a trial with Barcelona in November 2013, Isaac Lihadji would probably be at La Masia right now.

“As it is, the left-winger, who starred for France during last year’s third-place finish at the Under-17 World Cup, is at Marseille, though probably not for much longer.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I suspect Lihadji was one of several young players our scouts were looking at and so it is hard to tell if we are likely to move for him. What is certain is that the teenager is going to have many clubs across Europe vying for his signature when he becomes a free agent in the summer.
