Report: Tennis star Emma Raducanu reveals the source of her Spurs affection

Emma Raducanu, British tennis’ rising star has explained that watching Harry Kane at the European Championships last summer led to her newfound support of Tottenham Hotspur.

The teenage sensation rose to prominence worldwide as she became the first singles player to come through qualifying and win one of the sports’ four majors, the US Open, in New York.

Since that momentous occasion, results have been more appropriate for a prospect of her age, but fanfare often follows wherever she goes.

As a result, many Spurs fans would have seen their social media feeds light up on Monday as Emma practised for her first tournament in the clay-court season in Tottenham’s current home kit with her name and the number ’10’ across her back.

The Toronto-born Londoner told The Telegraph: “I loved following the Euros last year, watching Harry Kane the England captain, and Son [Heung-min], I’m a bit fan of his as well. So, I like to dabble.”

Raducanu’s Billie-Jean King Cup teammate and Britain’s number two, Harriet Dart, is a passionate Arsenal supporter, so it is good to see the Lilywhite side of North London being represented on the team (WTA Tennis).

Emma joins a growing cast of celebrity Spurs fans including Spider-Man actor, Tom Holland and international singing superstar, Adele.

These connections will only increase Spurs’ global brand and could perhaps lead to great commercial opportunities around the world: music to Daniel Levy’s ears.
