Report: The path is now clear for Spurs to sign £21m-rated midfielder

According to a report in Aksam, the path has now opened up for Tottenham to sign Sebastian Szymanski as Fenerbahce are close to securing a replacement for the attacking midfielder.

Szymanski has been one of the standout players in the Super Lig this season, having scored 13 goals and provided 16 assists across all competitions so far this season (Transfermarkt).

Various Turkish outlets have suggested over the last month that Tottenham are eyeing a move for the Poland international, who is also thought to be of interest to various clubs in Serie A (Fanatik).

Is Sebastian Szymanski now up for sale?

If Aksam’s latest update is to be believed, Tottenham’s chances of securing Szymanski has now gone up as Fenerbahce are about to wrap up a deal for a replacement.

The report says that the Turkish giants are close to sealing a €15m (£12.8m) agreement to sign Cameron Puertas from Union Saint-Gilloise as the 24-year-old’s replacement.

It is alleged that once that deal is wrapped up, the Istanbul club would be willing to sell Szymanski to Spurs for around €25m (£21.4m) this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is interesting to see Spurs continuously being linked with various attacking midfielders despite wrapping up a deal for Lucas Bergvall. That suggests that Postecoglou is keen to ensure that James Maddison has some intense competition for his place in the side.
