Report: The player Spurs are demanding to allow Eriksen to leave

Christian Eriksen’s timing of his revelation that he wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer in order to seek a new challenge were certainly poorly timed when he made the comments to Danish news outlet Ekstra Bladet less than a week after the club had suffered defeat in the Champions League final.

The Sun are reporting that Tottenham are willing to do business with Real Madrid in their pursuit of the playmaker if the Spanish giants include Marco Asensio as part of the deal.

It was reported earlier this week that Madrid were prepared to offer £45million plus Dani Ceballos, but Spurs would prefer Asensio to head to North London even it it means him making the switch on a season long loan in the first place.

Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is said to be keen to hold onto Asensio, who played 19 games in La Liga last season, managing just one goal and four assists after struggling under previous manager Santiago Solari.

Should Madrid decide not to include Asensio as part of the package, it could mean that Eriksen’s hope of a move to the Bernabeu could be over despite the fact he just has twelve months left to run on his deal in North London.
