Report: The reason why Tottenham didn’t take Malcom on loan

The Sun have reported that Tottenham and Arsenal both avoided a loan move for Barcelona winger Malcom due to the high fee the Spanish giants were charging.

Barca signed the former-Bordeaux winger in the summer, but he has gone on to start just the one La Liga match in his first six months at the club.

Arsenal ended up paying a £2 fee to take Denis Suarez on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy for £18m in the summer.

However, Barcelona were apparently not willing to allow such a reasonable deal for Malcom too, hence why both North London clubs walked away.

Barca reportedly believe that Malcom still has a long-term future at the club, which is perhaps why they were less willing to part ways with him.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs come in for the Brazilian once again in the summer for a permanent transfer.
