Report: The seven Spurs players whose contracts ran out yesterday

While there are always outgoings at the end of every season for a Premier League club, both in the first team and in the youth ranks, some may be surprised at the players departing this season.

Michel Vorm has already been announced as a departee, as his contract ran out on June 30th 2019, after seven great years with the club.

Vorm was always a very capable understudy to Hugo Lloris, but with the emergence of Paulo Gazzaniga, there seemed little point renewing his deal.

Perhaps the most eyebrow-raising departure comes in the form of cult hero Fernando Llorente, after the Spaniard led Tottenham’s Champions League charge last season.

Llorente scored against Dortmund and Man City in the knock out stages, before setting up the Lucas Moura winner in Amsterdam that saw Spurs beat Ajax to the final itself.

Other players leaving the club this summer include: Connor Ogilvie, Tom Glover, Charlie Freeman, Dylan Duncan, and Jamie Reynolds (Football London).

Spurs Web Opinion:

I can’t say that I am too fussed about the majority of the youngsters on the list, and it was certainly Vorm’s time to go, but I am gutted about Llorente. Fernando was a huge part of the best ever Champions League campaign for Tottenham, and I feel he offers a big threat as a plan B option. I would have signed him up for one extra year.
