Report: There is ‘a feeling’ inside Spurs that club are missing out on golden opportunity

The Athletic have revealed there is a feeling around Tottenham Hotspur that the club are blowing a golden opportunity to muscle their way into the top-four, given the inconsistencies of the likes of Manchester United.

Tottenham’s 3-2 defeat at Old Trafford on Saturday came as a massive blow to the North London club’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.

The defeat has seen Antonio Conte’s men drop down to eighth place in the table – six points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, having played a game more than their local rivals.

The Athletic claim that the feeling of frustration after Saturday’s loss is ‘even greater’ because of what is at stake this season.

It is explained that Tottenham claiming a top-four place could dramatically impact the futures of Conte and Harry Kane.

The report adds that there is a feeling around N17 that the club would never get such an ‘inviting opportunity’ to get into the Champions League as Man Utd will be stronger next season.

The door to get into the top four has been open for several months now but we have not been anywhere near consistent enough to challenge for fourth place.

United will certainly be stronger next season while Arsenal also seem to be moving in the right direction under Arteta.

So, missing out on the top four could set us back a few years as it will impact the kind of players we would be able to attract in the summer.
