Report: There is talk of Spurs launching £30m first offer for centre-back

According to Corriere Granata, Tottenham Hotspur could be about to make an offer of €35m (£30m) plus bonuses for Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer.

Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni is rumoured to be Spurs’ first-choice centre-back target this summer but it remains to be seen whether the North London club can swoop for the Italian, who is said to be reluctant to leave the San Siro (Evening Standard).

Bremer is thought to be another name on Tottenham’s wishlist, with Football.London’s Alasdair Gold claiming a couple of days ago that the Brazilian could be available for a fee of just £21m this summer.

Corriere Granata have now reported that Spurs hold a ‘strong interest’ in the Torino star and are in talks with the player’s representatives.

The Lilywhites are said to be facing competition from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan and Leicester City for Bremer.

However, it is asserted that Spurs could steal a march on the other suitors for the 25-year-old’s signature by making an opening offer of €35m (£30m) plus bonuses.

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs might not view Bremer as a backup option to Bastoni. We might be targeting the Brazilian in addition to a natural left-sided centre-back this summer as the likes of Joe Rodon and Davinson Sanchez could leave the club.

With Inter also rumoured to be eyeing Bremer as a potential replacement for Bastoni, this could also be a case of gamesmanship from Paratici to potentially get the Nerazzurri to lower their demands for the 23-year-old.
