Report: ‘Things are not going well’ for on-loan Spurs man as injuries continue

Italian publication Club Doria 46 (14/10/22 as relayed by Sport Witness) have now claimed that the time frame for Harry Winks’ return to fitness still remains uncertain.

Winks has not made the matchday squad since his move to Sampdoria, with the midfielder recovering from an ankle problem.

SampNews24 claimed a couple of weeks ago that while the 26-year-old was expected to get minutes after the international break, he had suffered a setback in his recovery while Football.London reported last week that the England international is continuing to train on his own.

Club Doria 46 now explain that Winks was supposed to be Sampdoria’s marquee signing of the summer, which is why his struggles have been disappointing for the club.

The Serie A club sacked manager Marco Giampaolo and replaced him with Dejan Stankovic earlier this month but the report states that the on-loan Tottenham man has never known the training methods of either manager.

Club Doria 46 add that ‘things are not going well’ for Winks and that the midfielder’s left ankle continues to ‘haunt him’, which makes it difficult to predict when he will return to action.

Spurs Web Opinion

The nature of Winks’ injury perhaps explains why there was a lack of interest from Premier League clubs in the midfielder over the summer as they were perhaps unsure about his pace of recovery. It is looking increasingly likely that we will only see the England international in action after the World Cup.
