Report: Three clubs have expressed interest in signing alleged Spurs target on loan

The Guardian have claimed that three different clubs have expressed an interest in signing Kalvin Phillips on loan in January but Tottenham are not one of them.

Phillips has continued to be linked with a move to Spurs, with Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) just recently naming the Lilywhites as one of three main contenders for the City star’s signature along with Juventus and Newcastle United.

However, it had previously been reported by 90 min last month that the 27-year-old prefers moving to St. James Park over the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as he feels he has a better chance of getting game time at the former.

Something quite similar was also reported by Football.London’s Alasdair Gold a couple of weeks ago, with the journalist stating that the England international wants more minutes than Spurs are willing to offer him.

Spurs not one of three contenders for Kalvin Phillips

The Guardian have now not mentioned Tottenham as one of the sides vying for Phillips’ signature, instead naming Juve, Newcastle and Crystal Palace as the three clubs who have explored a loan move for the player.

The outlet adds that the former Leeds United star is ‘desperate’ to leave the Etihad Stadium and to get back to playing, with a place in England’s Euro 2024 squad on the line for him.

Spurs Web Opinion

With news recently emerging of Chelsea’s willingness to listen to offers for Conor Gallagher, I believe Tottenham’s attention would have turned away from Phillips and their other midfield targets, and fully towards their pursuit of the Blues star.
