Report: Three European giants enter race for centre-back said to be on Spurs’ radar

According to Sky Sports Germany, Manchester United, Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund are interested in Florentina defender Nikola Milenkovic, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham.

La Nazione reported back in November that Spurs were tracking Milenkovic, with Jose Mourinho said to be a fan of the centre-back.

CalcioMercato then suggested that the 23-year-old, who will be down to the final 12 months of his contract at the end of the season, was unlikely to put pen to paper on a new deal at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.

The Serbian has refused to get drawn into the speculation regarding his future, insisting that he will make a decision at the end of the season (Radio Bruno via CalcioNews24).

If Sky Germany are to be believed, Tottenham’s pursuit of Milenkovic will be anything but straight forward, with Manchester United, Liverpool and Dortmund now entering the race for the centre-half.

The report suggests that all three clubs have made contact with Fiorentina to enquire about the defender’s availability in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I suspect Jose will want to sign two new central defenders in the summer as we could see both Sanchez and Alderweireld leaving the club. Perhaps the Tottenham boss might want to bring in one experienced campaigner who can slot straight into the backline and one promising young defender like Milenkovic.
