Report: Three European giants set to challenge for Spurs-linked full-back

According to the latest reports from Spain, Manchester United, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid are all keen on landing rumoured Spurs target, Pervis Estupinan.

The Watford defender arrived at Vicarage Road in the summer of 2016 but has yet to make a single appearance for the Hornets.

The left-back has had loan spells at Granada, Almeria, Mallorca, and is currently on loan at Osasuna until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old has caught the eye with his performances this season, notching up five assists in 30 appearances so far this campaign (transfermarkt.com).

Sport reported last month that Tottenham had made an inquiry about the availability of the Ecuadorian international, and could make an offer for him this summer.

However, La Razon has now installed Barcelona as the favourites for Estupinan’s signature this summer. It is said that the Catalan giants face competition from Man Utd and Atletico for the defender but there is no mention of Spurs in the report.

Spurs Web Opinion

Estupinan is equally adept at playing as an attacking wing-back in a back five or in a more defensive role as a left-back in a back four. He is excellent both defensively and offensively and combines the qualities of Sessegnon and Davies. However, with the likes of Cirkin also coming through and Tanganga proving that he can play in the role, I do not believe signing a left-back is as much of a priority for us this summer as additions in other areas like right-back, defensive midfield, and striker.
