Report: Three PL rivals enquire about star Spurs are allegedly leading race for

According to Super Deporte, several Premier League clubs have expressed an interest in signing Barcelona striker Memphis Depay, who is thought to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Depay has found the back of the net 10 times in 21 La Liga matches since his move to the Camp Nou last summer (Transfermarkt) but the centre-forward has endured a bit-part role since Xavi replaced Ronald Koeman at the helm.

Mundo Deportivo reported last month that Spurs were leading the race to snap up the 28-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window.

Super Deporte have now stated that Barca could decide to cash in on Depay this summer and there is no shortage of interest in the Netherlands international.

The report claims the striker is tempted by a potential return to the Premier League as he wants to ‘vindicate’ himself following his struggles at Manchester United.

It is alleged that Newcastle, Everton and Arsenal have enquired about Depay’s availability.

The report also adds that Juventus could make a move for the Barca star, with Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata potentially on their way out of the Old Lady.

Spurs Web Opinion

Depay has his shortcomings but he is more than a handy squad player to have. I believe he is as good a player as we are going to get as a backup to Kane.

The big question is if he would be open to a move to Spurs, given that he is more likely to be a guaranteed starter with the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle.
