It has been widely reported over the last few weeks that Sessegnon will be allowed to leave Tottenham on a free transfer this summer as the North London club undertake a major squad revamp (The Standard).

This claim has been backed up by GiveMeSport, who point out that although Spurs have the option to extend Sessegnon’s deal by a year, they do not plan on taking up that option.

This is because the left-back is keen to leave and Ange Postecoglou’s men do not wish to stand in his way.

Competition intensifying for Ryan Sessegnon

GiveMeSport has revealed that a few top-flight clubs are already circling over Sessegnon, attracted by the prospect of signing a player of the 24-year-old’s quality on a free transfer.

Ipswich are said to be at the front of the queue and it is explained that should the Tractor Boys land the Englishman, they would use him as a left-winger, with Leif Davis continuing to play as a left-back.

However, the report points out that Sessegnon’s proposed move to Portman Road is in its ‘very early’ stages and is not anywhere close to being agreed at the moment.

The publication adds that Crystal Palace and Wolves are also considering moves for the Spurs man after hearing that he would be allowed to leave N17.

One would hope that Sessegnon has put his injury woes behind him and is able to stay fit for a sustained period. At his best, there is no doubt that the 24-year-old is good enough to be a regular starter for a Premier League side.
