Football journalist Duncan Castles has taken to Twitter to claim that the Tottenham Hotspur pair, Giovani Lo Celso and Erik Lamela have both tested positive for COVID-19.
Lo Celso is currently sidelined from action with a hamstring injury suffered in the recent home defeat to Leicester City while Lamela has recently returned to action following a foot problem.
Castles has claimed that Tottenham have not made a request to the Premier League to postpone this afternoon’s home clash against newcomers Leeds United.
Jose Mourinho saw his side informed that last Wednesday’s home match against Fulham was to be postponed just three hours before kick off due to a spate of positive COVID-19 results at the Craven Cottage outfit.
The Daily Mail claim that Lo Celso and Lamela, along with left-back Sergio Reguilon broke COVID guidelines by spending Christmas Day together with their respective families, which goes against Government advice with London being a Tier 4 area.
UPDATE – Castles has since deleted the Tweet.
Understand that Erik Lamela and Giovani Lo Celso have tested positive for COVID.
