Report: Three Spurs players set to be involved in discussion over club manager

According to a report from The Athletic, Daniel Levy is seriously considering Antonio Conte’s future at Tottenham Hotspur, and it is thought players like Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane, and Eric Dier may be part of the discussions.

Conte has been with Tottenham since November 2021, but how much longer he remains at the club is up for debate.

The Italian has struggled with results and performances on the pitch this season, as well as issues with his health and the deaths of three of his friends.

The past week has seen the situation worsen, after the deflating exit from the Champions League, which prompted Conte to suggest Spurs may want to sack him before the end of the season (Prime Video via Fabrizio Romano).

However, the Daily Mail claims the 53-year-old will not be relieved of his duties by Levy, for fear of disrupting the club’s hunt for the top four if a change is made now.

The latest from The Athletic says otherwise, with a shortlist of replacements thought to be drawn up already. The report describes Conte’s departure as “inevitable,” more a matter of when rather than if.

It is thought the options for Levy at this stage are to either stick with Conte until the end of the season, or dismiss the Italian and allow Ryan Mason to take charge until the summer.

The decision is expected to come down to who Levy regards as being most capable of securing a top-four spot.

In addition, Levy will “likely be sounding out the thoughts of senior players” like Lloris, Kane, and Dier who will be asked to give their opinions on the matter.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am now of the opinion that Conte should move on, but not until the end of the season. There’s no point upsetting the apple cart right now, when we have the top four in our hands.

Conte knows how to secure that, and then we can look to build a new, more appropriate project in the summer if he is unhappy at the club.
