Tottenham Hotspur could still be without the services of Eric Dier, Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga for Wednesday night’s Premier League fixture against Southampton, according to Hampshire Live.
The three players all missed Saturday’s FA Cup fourth round victory against Brighton with Dier not risked against the Seagulls having recently experienced issues with his thigh (Football.London) while the academy pair of Skipp and Tanganga were sidelined with knee and groin problems, respectively (Spurs official).
The report claims that the trio are all expected to miss the match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Dier said to be close to returning to action.
Cristian Romero made his first appearance at the weekend since November in place of Dier, alongside Ben Davies and Davinson Sanchez at the heart of the Spurs defence.
Skipp’s absence could present the opportunity for Harry Winks to retain his place in the side, or allow Antonio Conte to hand recent signing Rodrigo Bentancur his full Premier League debut against the Saints.

There is no need to risk any of the three players for Wednesday night, especially Dier with Romero now back fit and having looked impressive at the weekend. Bentancur’s cameo off the bench was promising and may have done enough to deserve a start.
With games set to come thick and fast, the sensible option would be not to risk Skipp or Tanganga either.
