Report: Three ways in which Mourinho will try to convince Kane to stay at Spurs long-term

The speculation over Harry Kane’s future has run rife over the past few weeks. This comes after the striker’s admission last month that he will consider leaving the club if the team isn’t moving in the right direction.

Several reports have since ruled out any possibility of Kane leaving Tottenham this summer, with the club said to be determined to hold on to the striker (talkSPORT).

A report from Football.London has now revealed that Jose Mourinho will try to convince Kane not just to stay at the club beyond the summer but also that commit his long-term future to the Lilywhites.

The report reveals that the key task lying ahead for the Spurs boss is to convince the striker of the club’s ambition. There are three ways in which the Spurs boss will try and convince the 26-year-old, according to the report.

The first comes as Mourinho believes that the squad needs to be tweaked this summer in order to add some experience, but that the team can challenge for trophies.

Secondly, it is said that the Portuguese coach will use his own impressive CV to convince the England captain that he knows what it takes to win the biggest trophies.

Finally, the report adds that the 57-year-old has to assure Kane that he will be used to his strengths and continue to get lots of chances each game to score goals. It is suggested that Kane may not be a fan of playing direct football and being isolated up front.

The report also asserts that, despite Kane’s good relationship with Mauricio Pochettino, he has already warmed to Mourinho and that the pair have a lot of mutual respect for each other.
