Report: Top six rival make transfer decision regarding long-term Spurs target

Manchester United have decided they will not sell rumoured Tottenham target Anthony Martial this summer, The Telegraph reports.

Martial has reportedly been on Tottenham’s radar for a long time, with the North London club alleged to have tried to sign him from Monaco back in 2015 as well as from  Manchester United in 2018.

Spurs were backed to try again this summer, with The Daily Star claiming last month that the Lilywhites were prepared to meet Man United’s £50m valuation of the Frenchman, with the Red Devils said to be keen on cashing in on him after signing Sancho.

However, The Telegraph have now claimed United have done a U-turn and decided to hang on to Martial despite interest from both Tottenham and Everton.

The report asserts the 25-year-old remains part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans for the upcoming season, so, it looks as though Martial is set to once again elude Tottenham.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have always been a fan of Martial despite his inability to live up to his potential during his Old Trafford barring a few spells.

I certainly would not have minded him being brought in as one of the replacements of Kane if the England captain does indeed depart.

One would expect Martial’s game time at Old Trafford to be limited after the arrival of Sancho and so an opportunity could open up for Spurs in January or next summer.
