Report: Tottenham academy starlet has told friends he is joining Man United

Tottenham academy defender Jayden Meghoma has told friends that he is joining Manchester United, Football Insider have revealed.

Meghoma, who has come through the age-group ranks at Tottenham, is an England Under-16 international.

The left-back, who is considered to be one of the most promising talents in the club’s academy, is yet to sign a professional contract with the Lilywhites.

Football Insider reveal that Man Utd are revamping their academy set-up, with Mark Dempsey replacing Neil Wood as the head coach of the club’s Under-23s and Paul McShane set to join as his assistant.

The Red Devils are said to be keen on attracting the best young talents to their academy and are now said to be close to luring Meghoma.

The report claims that United have now agreed on a deal in principle to sign the 15-year-old. The defender is said to have agreed to sign youth terms that will eventually be converted into a pro deal when he turns 17.

One of Fabio Paratici’s main aims seems to be to overhaul the club’s youth set-up and to bring talented youngsters into the academy set-up. However, retaining the best young talent at the club is just as if not even more important, and so losing Meghoma would be a big blow to Spurs.
