Report: Tottenham accept bid for midfielder

Football Insider are now reporting that Tottenham Hotspur have accepted a £9 million bid from Club Brugge for midfielder Victor Wanyama.

It is claimed that the fee could rise to £12 million with add-ons and that the 28-year-old has now been given permission to talk to Brugge to discuss personal terms.

However, the report adds that Wanyama is stalling on the move as he is waiting to see if any other suitors from one of Europe’s major leagues come in for him late in the window.

The same publication reported a few days ago that Wanyama had instructed his agent to start looking for a new club after holding talks with Tottenham.

The midfielder had a terrific first season after moving to Spurs from Southampton in the summer of 2016 but he has been ravaged by injuries for the past couple of seasons and thus hasn’t had a consistent run in the side.

It looks like Wanyama is desisted to leave before European transfer market shuts on September 2nd. While the Kenyan international is clearly among the best when he is fit and firing, one has to wonder if he will ever be able to return to his best following the injury problems he has suffered for the last two years.
