Report: Tottenham activate option to extend goalkeeper’s contract

John Wenham, who regularly breaks news on his Lilywhite Rose social media platforms, has now revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have activated an option to extend the contract of academy goalkeeper Josh Keeley.

Keeley came through the youth system of St Patrick’s Athletic and broke into the Dublin club’s first team a little over two years ago, with the youngster making the switch to Hotspur Way at the start of the 2022-23 season.

Since making the switch to North London, the 20-year-old has been a regular in the club’s Under-21 set-up, catching the eye with his consistent displays between the sticks.

Keeley, who kept four clean sheets in six Premier League 2 appearances this season for Wayne Burnett’s men, was loaned out to Barnet during last month’s transfer window so that he could get a taste of senior football.

The youngster has made an impressive start to his time at the National League side, having been flawless in the five matches he has played for the club so far.

Tottenham have extended Josh Keeley’s contract by an extra year

Wenham has now revealed that Tottenham are delighted with the progress that Keeley has made during his spell at Harrow and have thus decided to activate the option to extend his deal until June 2025.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is a no-brainer for Tottenham to activate the one-year extension as the Irishman would have otherwise left as a free agent in the summer. Perhaps Spurs will offer him a new deal in the summer before loaning him out to a side higher up the English footballing pyramid for next season.
