Report: Spurs and Chelsea target now expected to remain at his current club

Journalist Ryan Taylor has reported that Spurs target, Josko Gvardiol, is expected to remain at RB Leipzig this summer. 

Tottenham were alongside Chelsea and Manchester United in the race for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol, according to The Telegraph. 

Spurs will be looking to strengthen this summer with Champions League football to look forward to and Antonio Conte committing his future in North London (Guardian).

The Italian coach is thought to have requested a new centre-back to add to his ranks, with a specific focus on bringing in a left-footed defender (The Telegraph). The Athletic reported that Gvardiol is thought to feature on Tottenham’s shortlist. 

Gvardiol has emerged as one of Europe’s top talents after impressing in his first season for Leipzig since his summer move from Dinamo Zagreb. 

The Telegraph claimed all Spurs, Chelsea, and Man United are expected to be in the market to capture a left-footed central defender, with Gvardiol cited as an option to fill their respective voids. 

Gvardiol made 29 appearances in the Bundesliga last season as Leipzig secured fourth place in the table, contributing to eight clean sheets (Transfermarkt).

Gvardiol is a superb talent and definitely someone Tottenham should be looking at to bring in to play on the left of the back three, if not this season then perhaps next year.
