Report: Tottenham among clubs on alert over availability of Gareth Bale

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane appears to have put the final nail in Gareth Bale’s Madrid coffin after leaving the Welshman out of their final La Liga squad of the season (Wales Online).

Madrid travelled to Leganes who they subsequently relegated after the 2-2 draw but Bale was notably left out of the 22-man squad (WalesOnline).

The omission from the squad has left Bale’s future at Madrid in further doubt after a turbulent couple of weeks for the 31-year-old.

Bale has received heavy criticism from the Madrid fans following his antics on the substitute’s bench in the past few La Liga games where the Cardiff-born player has been seen to be joking and potentially hitting back at the criticism (Daily Mail).

Tottenham have been linked with a move for the Welsh winger over the years in a romantic reunion with his former club, and more recently by the Daily Star.

However, Zidane insisted it was a ‘technical decision’ to leave Bale out of the 22-man squad to face the La Liga strugglers with Tottenham among the clubs said to be on alert, according to Wales Online.

“The situation changes all the time. You know what has happened with James, and Bale has been a technical decision, nothing more,” the Frenchman said via the BBC.

Spurs Web Opinion

One part of me would love to see Bale come back to Spurs. It would be pretty spectacular to have him back in this new stadium alongside Harry Kane and Sonny, however, I just can’t see it happening. There is no doubt he still has it in him to make a difference to our team but for how many more years and at what cost would it take to bring him to Spurs?
