Report: Tottenham among Premier League clubs scouting German midfielder

Sources at 90 min have claimed Tottenham Hotspur are one of several Premier League clubs sending scouts to watch Mainz midfielder, Anton Stach.

The German has been with Mainz since the summer of 2021 and has really begun to establish himself as one to watch in the Bundesliga of late. Stach has 54 appearances for his club, providing two goals and 12 assists in that time (Transfermarkt).

Mainz are currently sitting in the middle of the Bundesliga table, with a comfortable season ahead of them as it stands.

The beating heart of their team right now is Stach, a midfielder who primarily serves as a number six, but who can offer flexibility across the middle of the park.

The 24-year-old has impressed over the course of 22 games this season, registering one goal and three assists this year (Transfermarkt).

Stach made his debut for the German national team in March of last year, and won his second cap in the summer of 2022 but has not featured since (Transfermarkt).

However, it appears the dynamic midfielder has a bright future ahead. How long he stays in Germany for is the only thing up for debate it seems, as interest heats up from English clubs.

The report from 90 min suggests Tottenham may be keen to add Stach to their midfield after the recent long-term injury to Rodrigo Bentancur. Liverpool meanwhile are keener on Jude Bellingham, but are monitoring the Mainz player as an alternative.

Newcastle United and West Ham are also thought to be keeping tabs on Stach, and it remains to be seen which clubs make an approach for the player, if any.

Spurs Web Opinion

Anton Stach looks like a decent little player who would fit into our system at Spurs really effectively. With a contract running until 2024, there’s a chance a big club could swoop and get a good deal for the player, too.
