Report: Tottenham among trio competing for defender Man City sold last summer

Tottenham, Arsenal and Barcelona are all interested in signing RB Leipzig defender Angelino, according to CalcioMercato.

The 25-year-old has emerged as arguably one of the best full-backs in the Bundesliga since arriving from Manchester City in January 2020.

He initially moved to Leipzig on loan but the move for the Spaniard was made permanent last summer after impressing at the Red Bull Arena.

However, the German side may have a decision to make with Angelino moving forward, with CalcioMercato reporting a handful of sides are monitoring his progress.

The report states Tottenham, Arsenal and Barcelona are those keeping tabs on the situation, with all three clubs at risk of facing potential issues at left-back.

Spurs could lose Sergio Reguilón at the end of the season with Real Madrid allegedly weighing up their options on activating a buy-back clause for the 25-year-old (El Nacional).

Meanwhile, rivals Arsenal may have to contend with Los Blancos poaching Kieran Tierney, who have reportedly shortlisted the Scottish international as a potential replacement for the ageing Marcelo (El Espanol).

Spurs Web Opinion

Angelino has become one of the best full-backs in Europe upon his move to Leipzig and he has emerged as a source of goals from out wide.

If Spurs are worried about Reguilon moving back to Madrid, they should definitely consider Angelino as a replacement – especially if they feel he is capable of flourishing in Antonio Conte’s system.
