Report: Tottenham and Arsenal both interested in the same Spanish striker

According to a report in DAZN (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are keeping tabs on Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion, who has impressed on loan at Alaves this season.

Omorodion has scored nine goals in 32 league matches this campaign, which is quite impressive when one considers that Alaves have struggled to create chances and have only found the back of the net 32 times all season.

DAZN claim that the 20-year-old’s performances have not gone unnoticed around Europe, with Tottenham and Arsenal now ‘closely following’ the youngster’s progress.

The two Premier League clubs are joined in the race by Napoli and AS Roma, with the former allegedly seeing the Spaniard as the ideal option to replace Victor Osimhen.

Tottenham and Arsenal both like Samu Omorodion

The report says that Omorodion will work with Diego Simeone during pre-season before Atletico make a decision on his future.

Meanwhile, Fichajes also relay a similar claim, stating that the interest is ‘unleashing a London derby’ between Spurs and Arsenal for Omorodion.

However, it is revealed that Atletico will not let the Spain Under-21 international leave on the cheap, with the striker said to have a release clause of somewhere between €80m (£68.8m) and €100m (£86m).

Atletico’s financial issues are well documented and they will likely have to sell to buy this summer. However, one would think that the Colchoneros would not be willing to sell a promising young talent such as Omorodion unless they receive a mammoth offer.
