Report: Tottenham and Arsenal both showing ‘great interest’ in Serie A star

Fichajes.net have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur could battle Arsenal for the signature of AC Milan’s Mike Maignan this summer.

Multiple outlets over the last couple of months have suggested that Maignan is one of the names on Tottenham’s shortlist to take over the gloves from Hugo Lloris in the summer (Football.London).

CalcioMercato reported on April 15 that amidst interest from Spurs, Milan are keen to tie down the goalkeeper to a new contract.

The publication suggested that the Rossoneri are ready to offer the 27-year-old a pay rise on his current €2.8m (£2.4m) salary while the Frenchman’s representatives want him to be one of the highest-paid players in the Milan squad.

If Fichajes‘s latest update is to be believed, Maignan is not just of interest to Tottenham but also to their North London rivals.

The report claims that the goalkeeper, who is valued at €35m (£30.8m), is generating ‘great interest’ from Spurs and the Gunners, who are closely following him in action for the Serie A side.

However, it is asserted that Stefano Pioli’s men are determined to keep the former Lille star at the San Siro.

Spurs Web Opinion

Milan look likely to qualify for next season’s Champions League while Spurs look set to miss out.

So, I do not think Maignan would be too keen on leaving the Serie A side to move to N17.

Having said that, Tottenham would certainly be able to offer the goalkeeper a considerably higher salary than Milan can.
