Report: Tottenham and Arsenal enter race for 24-year-old left-back

According to Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a move for VfB Stuttgart left-back Borna Sosa.

There is a question mark over Sergio Reguilon’s future at Tottenham, with reports over recent days indicating that Real Madrid want to exercise the £33.6m buy-back clause to bring him back to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season (The Sunday Mirror – 13/2; page 73).

If that does come to pass, Spurs will have to enter the market for a left wing-back and it looks as though they may have settled on a target.

Falk claims that Tottenham, as well as their North London rivals Arsenal, have their eyes on Sosa, who was allegedly previously also on Chelsea’s radar.

Sosa, who can operate at left-back as well as further forward, is a set-piece specialist, having scored two goals and picked up five assists so far this season (Transfermarkt).

The 24-year-old’s consistent performances over the last 12 months have also seen him establish himself as a starter for Croatia.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Spurs do not lose Reguilon, the club might need to enter the market for a left wing-back in the summer.

While Sessegnon possesses plenty of athleticism and pace, I am not convinced that he is good enough on the ball yet to establish himself as a starter.

Spurs might have to loan out the former Fulham youngster again next season in order to help him develop into a finished product.
