Report: Tottenham and Arsenal have sent scouts to watch English midfielder

The Daily Mail have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are one of several Premier League clubs currently keeping tabs on Blackburn Rovers starlet Adam Wharton.

Wharton has shown plenty of promise since breaking into Blackburn’s first team earlier this season, with the central midfielder having made 22 senior appearances so far this campaign.

The Mail claim that the silky left-footer is already attracting interest from Premier League clubs ahead of the summer transfer window, with Tottenham named as one of the sides who have sent scouts to Ewood Park to run the rule over him.

The report reveals that Wharton has also been watched by representatives from Arsenal, Leicester, and West Ham United while Newcastle United have now also entered the race for his signature.

However, it is asserted that despite the mounting interest, Blackburn are determined to hold on to the midfielder as they believe that the teenager’s development would be best served playing regular football with them.

Spurs Web Opinion

It seems like we are keeping tabs on quite a few budding talents in the EFL ahead of the summer, with Bristol City’s Alex Scott also being heavily linked over recent months.

There is no doubt that Spurs need to improve their homegrown numbers over the next couple of years, which might be the main reason why the club are keen on snapping up-and-coming English talent.
