Report: Tottenham and Arsenal set their sights on same Barcelona attacker

Mundo Deportivo have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are one of several clubs who are eyeing a potential move for Barcelona forward Ansu Fati in the summer.

Since first breaking into Barcelona’s senior side back in 2019, Fati has gone on to make 89 appearances for the Catalan giants, scoring 29 goals and picking up five assists (Transfermarkt).

However, the 20-year-old has fallen down Xavi Hernandez’s pecking order this season, having started just seven games in La Liga matches so far in 2022-23.

Mundo Depertivo claim that the youngster’s lack of game time has caught the attention of several big hitters around Europe over recent months.

The report states that seven clubs have enquired about Fati’s availability, with Bayern Munich said to be the ones who have asked about him ‘the most’ so far.

The publication adds that from the Premier League, Spurs and Arsenal have their eyes on the Spain international, with both North London clubs not expected to ‘lose sight’ of the attacker until the summer.

If Fati continues to be a bit-part player under Xavi for the rest of the season, one would expect Barca to cash in on the forward in the summer, given their financial situation.

However, there will likely be fierce competition for the 20-year-old’s signature and he certainly will not come cheap, given that he is contracted until 2027 at Camp Nou.
