Report: Tottenham and Arsenal to fight it out over Borussia Dortmund star

A report from German publication BILD has earmarked Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt as a target for both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, with the North London clubs keen to sign the midfielder ‘at all costs’.

Brandt joined Dortmund in the summer of 2019 from Bayer Leverkusen and has become one of the club’s brightest talents.

The 26-year-old has 29 goals and 30 assists in 157 appearances for Dortmund now (Transfermarkt).

The German playmaker has been enjoying one of his better seasons this year, with nine goals and five assists in 30 matches for Dortmund this term (Transfermarkt).

It’s this impressive form that has seen Brandt catch the eye of the Premier League clubs.

Brandt has long been considered a top talent in the Bundesliga and it appears he is now really fulfilling that potential. However, how long he remains in the German league remains to be seen.

With his current deal expiring in 2024, it is thought Dortmund are keen to extend Brandt’s stay with a new contract (One Football).

According to the latest report from Germany, Dortmund may have competition on their hands if they hope to keep hold of Brandt, with both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal keen to sign the midfielder “at all costs.”

Apparently, Brandt has claimed in the past that a move to England would be appealing, and it looks like he may have the chance to make that happen in the near future.

The report adds that Brandt has “Dortmund in his hands” when it comes to negotiating a new deal, and it seems he will either be able to demand a bumper contract to stay, or command a big fee for the club if he opts to depart.

Spurs Web Opinion

I’ve always really liked Julian Brandt and he is pretty much exactly the kind of dynamic, creative midfielder we need at Spurs.

If we can sign him, we should definitely be trying to make that happen, and we should definitely not let Arsenal get him.
