Nigerian outlet Punch Sports Extra have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona look set to go head-to-head for Wilfred Ndidi’s signature in January.

Tottenham’s interest in Ndidi first came to light last week when TEAMtalk reported last week that the Lilywhites are one of a number of Premier League clubs eyeing a January move for the midfielder, whose current deal at the King Power Stadium runs out next summer.

The report added that Ange Postecoglou’s men might have to see off competition from the likes of Newcastle, Aston Villa and Brentford if they wish to secure the 26-year-old’s services.

A few days ago, Spanish newspaper Sport (via Sky Sports’ live transfer centre – 12/11 at 09:27) claimed that Barcelona had also entered the race for the Leicester star while Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Juventus had also asked about the player’s availability.

Tottenham and Barca set to do battle for Ndidi

Punch Sport Extra have now stated that Ndidi is ready to make ‘a huge switch’ when the transfer window reopens in January.

The outlet suggests that as things stand, the battle for the Nigeria international’s signature looks to be between Tottenham and Barca.

However, the report does not rule out the possibility of Ndidi renewing his contract at Leicester, adding that it depends on Enzo Maresca’s men managing to stay in contention for an automatic promotion.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Ndidi does not sign a new contract with Leicester before January, I suspect the club might be tempted to hang on to him. Premier League promotion is worth a lot more to the Foxes than the few million they would lose out on by allowing the midfielder to run down his contract.
