Report: Tottenham and Chelsea both monitoring £17m-rated left-back

Tipsbladet have claimed that Tottenham are now keeping an eye on Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu following the youngster’s impressive recent showings in Serie A.

Dorgu was a complete unknown when Lecce signed him from FC Nordsjaelland in the summer, with the teenager not having made a single senior appearance for the Danish side.

However, the 19-year-old has hit the ground running in the Italian top flight, having impressed as a left wing-back at the Stadio Via del Mare this season.

Tipsbladet claim that several ‘big clubs’ from around Europe have been alerted to the younger, including Tottenham and Chelsea.

It is explained that Lecce’s sporting director, Stefano Trinchera, is adamant that Dorgu will not be sold in January under any circumstances but he could be on the move next summer.

Spurs and Chelsea both like the look of Patrick Dorgu

The report states that the left-back is valued at 150 million Danish Krone (£17.4m) and if he is sold for that price, Nordsjaelland would be in line to receive £2.3m due to the sell-on clause they inserted during the player’s sale.

The publication adds that it is only a matter of time before Dorgu breaks into the Danish national side and Lecce would be hoping that a bidding war ensues for the player next summer.

Tipsbladet also reveals that while several Italian clubs are looking at the teenager, they might find it difficult to meet Lecce’s asking price.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham had success with signing one left-back from Serie A in Destiny Udogie and may perhaps be looking to repeat the trick, with Dorgu appearing to have similar attributes to the Italian.

I do not think either Sessegnon or Reguilon have a future at Spurs under Postecoglou while next summer might be the ideal time to move on Ben Davies, who will turn 31 in April.
