Report: Tottenham and Conte hold ‘crisis talks’ – Levy set to make key decision

The Daily Mail have reported that Tottenham and Antonio Conte have held ‘crisis talks’ over the past 24 hours following his press conference outburst.

The Spurs boss labelled his players as ‘selfish’ following the 3-3 draw with Southampton, adding that they play for themselves rather than the team (Football London).

Perhaps the most controversial statement from the Italian was his comment about Tottenham not winning a trophy under the current regime for so many years.

Conte is said to have clarified his comments to Daniel Levy, claiming that the criticism was aimed towards the players and not the club hierarchy, and the chairman has accepted this version of events.

However, Levy is still set to meet with his most trusted confidants this week to decide whether Conte should stay, and is in no rush to make that choice with Spurs not in action until April 3.

Spurs were reportedly willing to stick with Conte until the end of the season, but that situation may have changed after the weekend’s events.

Spurs Web Opinion:

If it were me, I would sack Conte this week and bring in Pochettino to at least give him some time to get things sorted before the start of next season.

This campaign is likely a write-off, so don’t make the next manager play catch-up in the summer.
