Report: Tottenham and Everton-linked striker close to £10.1m transfer

Clermont Foot striker Mohamed Bayo is closing in on a move to Lille after recently being linked with a move to Tottenham, according to Foot Mercato.

The report explains the 24-year-old is set to move across Ligue 1 to join Les Dogues in a deal worth around 12 million (£10.1m) with the switch expected to be finalised this week.

The news comes after Foot Mercato recently named Spurs as potential suitors for Bayo as they continue to surge with their summer business, while noting Everton also held an interest.

Bayo helped Clermont achieve promotion to the French top-flight two seasons ago before producing an excellent campaign to help the club stave off the threat of relegation.

The 11-time capped Guinea international tallied 14 goals and five assists (Transfermarkt) and contributed to six goals in his remaining six games to lift his boyhood side to a 16th place finish.

Bayo would have been a solid addition for Tottenham given their second striker problems, especially at that price point.

But the recent addition of Richarlison to the front line will have lessened the likelihood of another forward coming in given his versatility.
