Report: Tottenham and Everton ready to enquire about Serie A defender

Tottenham and Everton are ready to ask Udinese for information on the price of defender Rodrigo Becao, who has been made available for transfer this summer, according to Messaggero Veneto.

The report notes the 26-year-old is one of three players Gino Pozzo is willing to sacrifice with the Premier League pair both set to make initial enquiries about his price tag.

Tutto Udinese previously reported Spurs and Everton were among several clubs to be keeping a close eye on Becao after taking note of his performances last season.

Meanwhile, journalist Ekrem Konur claimed both clubs had engaged in initial talks with Udinese earlier this month about a deal in the region of £12 million.

Becao joined Udinese from CSKA Moscow three years ago and has cemented a place in the heart of the Serie A side’s defence.

Contracted for another two seasons, the Brazilian has made over 100 appearances and featured prominently as the club finished the league campaign in 12th place (Transfermarkt).

Becao would be a relatively inexpensive player to bring in which could be a decent option in terms of filling out the squad. But Spurs really need a player good enough to hold a place down for the long-term and that will likely come at a pretty big price.
