Report: Tottenham and Juventus battling it out for Portuguese starlet

Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus are both said to be battling it out for the signature of Porto wonderkid Fabio Silva, according to reports from Italy.

Silva broke into the Porto side this season and has clocked up eighteen appearances for the senior team, most of which have come from the bench (transfermarkt).

The Portugal under-19 international, who is equally adept at playing as a number 10 or as a target man, according to TBR Football, has been compared to a young Cristiano Ronaldo by Sporting Lisbon legend Manuel Fernandes (Goal).

Calcio Mercato now report that Silva is generating a lot of interest around Europe.

Although Real Madrid and their local rivals Atletico were both said to have considered moves for the Porto forward, it is Spurs and Juventus who are serious in their pursuit of Silva.

While it was revealed that the teenager has a £107 million release clause, the report suggests that Porto will likely get less than half of that amount if Silva is sold this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I can see us snapping up young talents from Portugal over the next few years given Mourinho’s and Joao Sacramento’s expertise of the market. The signing of Gedson in January was certainly an indication. However, given the financial pressure that the club is currently under, I doubt this would be the time to invest so much in Silva.
