Report: Tottenham and Leeds set to battle it out for Championship starlet

The Daily Mirror have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are locked in a battle with Leeds United for the services of Bristol City starlet Alex Scott.

Scott has enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season at Ashton Gate and has been one of the few shining lights in what has been a disappointing season for the club.

London World reported back in February that Spurs had sent scouts to watch the young midfielder in action.

The Mirror have now revealed that scouts from Tottenham and Leeds were present for Bristol’s win on Good Friday at Stoke, with both teams now looking to raid the Championship club for Scott in the summer.

The report alleges that although the midfielder is under contract until 2025, Bristol might need to sell him this summer in order to raise funds to pursue their own targets.

Nigel Pearson’s side are said to be bracing themselves for an offer and value the 18-year-old at around £10m.

Although Scott is a central midfielder, interestingly, he has also been used as a wing-back by Pearson on occasions this season. Perhaps, Spurs see some potential for him to develop in that role over the coming years.

The Lilywhites certainly need to be looking towards the EFL to sign some domestic talent this summer, given that we are already near the limit of the foreign player quota.
